Why is it important to value ancestral knowledge in today’s world?
We are at a turning point in our history. Over the past decades, globalisation and technological advances have profoundly transformed the way we live. Over time, Western societies have adopted a way of life increasingly detached from nature, gradually moving away from their ancestral roots. Today, amid a collective search for meaning, younger generations are looking for ways to live in greater harmony with the living world, with others, and with themselves.
For millennia, indigenous peoples worldwide have safeguarded invaluable ancestral knowledge, grounded in a profound understanding of life and nature’s cycles. Today, this wisdom faces threats from modernity, land loss, and cultural homogenisation.
Yet their wisdom offers essential keys to reimagining our relationship with the Earth, with ourselves, and with others. It is in this spirit that Voices of the World collaborates with indigenous peoples to safeguard and transmit their knowledge and traditions.
Our focus areas
Co-creation of audiovisual and written content
Through audiovisual and written projects, we collaborate with indigenous peoples to amplify their voices and celebrate their wisdom and traditions.
Each piece of content is co-created with our local indigenous partners, aiming to highlight the richness of ancestral cultures while inspiring reflection on our relationship with the world and all living beings
Supporting projects to preserve indigenous cultures
Target audience: Youth of our indigenous partner communities
We aim to support local initiatives that promote the transmission of ancestral knowledge, such as cultural centers, events dedicated to preserving traditional knowledge, or other projects that are relevant to the community.
Since our projects are based on values of reciprocity, we commit to sharing the revenue generated by our projects with our indigenous partners. When needed, we also organise fundraising efforts to support community projects.
Several projects are currently being developed with our partner communities in Peru and Bolivia.
Educational workshops and transmission to the youth
Target audience: Children in Switzerland and France
We aim to amplify the voices of indigenous peoples among young people, to spark their curiosity, develop their critical thinking, and introduce them to different ways of living in the world.
Our intention is to plant seeds in the minds of young people to co-create a more harmonious future, where human relationships are rooted in community values and respect for all living beings.
We organise educational workshops for young people in France and Switzerland to sensitise them to cultural diversity and encourage reflection on their relationship with themselves, others, and the living world.
