During 2 weeks, we spent time with 8 Aymara families in the community of Molloco, located 45 minutes from the city of Puno, Peru. We lived with the families and shared their daily lives, days that begin at 5 a.m. and continue until nightfall. Their routines are guided by tasks to care of family and home, including cooking, managing animals (dogs, cats, chickens, cows, sheep, pigs, llamas, guinea pigs, etc.), working the fields with potatoes, quinoa, beans, and more, as well as weaving clothing and other artisan pieces, most often intended for sale.
Our project focused primarily on the lives of the women in the community, their stories, their life lessons and their traditions. Resilient and inspiring women whose determination and generosity deeply moved us. This project aims to celebrate them and honor their work, which is unfortunately not always recognised as it should be.
Here, we would like to introduce them to you.

Portraits of Aymara women
Making of
The first step of our project was to live with Aymara women and their families in the Molloco community. We shared in their daily routines on the Andean Altiplano, and helped with everyday tasks. We also accompanied them in the mountains with their animals, enjoyed traditional meals together, tried on their festive clothing, and engaged the local youth in the filming process.
